#1 Dandy Gander Farm
Dandy Gander Farm was established in 2015. Our farm continues to grow, with nearly 50 alpacas, including 5 cria or babies born in 2021. We have a mixed group, including rescues and those born and bred here. We anticipate having raw fiber and finished products on display and for sale. Our boys and girls and a mixed menagerie of chickens, sheep, turkey, ducks and geese look forward to meeting you. Directions to the farm: From South, take 22 north through Granville. #2 Simple Pleasures Farm
Welcome to Simple Pleasures Yarns, Fiber and Fleece. Our farm has been producing wool and wool blend yarns for over 22 years, using the wool from our small, but mighty, flock of Romney sheep. Once the sheep are shorn, (twice a year) the wool is sorted and sent to the mill. The yarn is left natural or hand-dyed here at the farm. #3 Quarry Ridge Alpacas
High on a hill overlooking the mountains of Vermont, Quarry Ridge is home to a delightful herd of alpacas, a devoted livestock guard-dog, a faithful barn cat and two friendly farmers. Having bred show quality alpacas for 20 years, we are now concentrating on the fiber component of the business, creating artful items crafted from the alpacas’ fleece. We offer fine alpaca yarns and blends, hand-dyed and natural, as well as unique hand-woven and knitted garments. Directions From the North (Granville), take Route 22 South. #4 Fiber Kingdom
Visit a working flock of colored and white Angora rabbits. Two fiber arts studios/shops offer, among other articles, luxurious angora/wool yarn and a full range of fibers for hand-spinning including silk, cotton, yak, mohair, etc. Also available are supplies and equipment for spinning, weaving, felting and knitting and a selection of books, magazines, DVDs and finished fiberworks. Ongoing demonstrations both days of bunny clipping, spinning and weaving. Directions: From intersection of NY Rte 22 and Broadway in Salem (traffic light), go east on East Broadway (Rte 153) 0.6 mi. #5 Battenkill Carding and Spinning Mill
Free tours of a full-scale commercial mill. Watch while fiber is sorted, washed and picked. See a vintage Davis and Furber carder process roving and learn how a spinning frame makes yarn. Hands-on fiber processing activities for kids. Factory seconds available for purchase. Unique, one of a kind yarns and roving from locally-raised fiber. #6 Wedding Hill Farm, LLC
At Wedding Hill Farm we pasture raise registered Romney sheep for wool, meat and breeding stock. Our flock includes about 100 breeding ewes, yearlings and breeding rams. We expect to have on hand garments that have been made with wool from our sheep that was blended with a softer wool from another New York farm for a more luxurious feel, yet with the strength of our Romney wool. Directions: 46 Cambridge Rd. Our Driveway and farm sign is on Route 372, just within the Village of Greenwich, on the left as you head towards Cambridge, on the right as you head into Greenwich from Cambridge. #7 Alpacas of Haven Hill
Please join us for some hands-on fun with our herd of 15 friendly alpacas and their luxurious fiber. We are here to answer all your questions about alpaca farming, and to show you some of the ways alpaca fiber can be turned into useful items and wearable treasures. The Alpaca Attic farm store will be set up under a large tent near the barn for your shopping pleasure. We hope to see you! #8 South Dominion Vineyard
South Dominion Vineyard and Winery in Cambridge is joining the Fiber Tour for the first time in 2024. We have been raising Romney-Dorset sheep over the last 20 years, offering our flock’s wool and wool products at the winery since 2021. Joe Hamilton, a well-known local sheep shearer, will be shearing throughout the weekend. We will also have skirting and spinning demos, as well as a presentation on dying wool with wine. From Schaghticoke: North on Rt 40N to Vly Summit Rd. Turn right on Vly Summit, proceeding approximately 3 miles to Brownell Rd. Turn right on Brownell. South Dominion Vineyard is 1.5 miles on left. |
#9 Caer Luna Farm
We are a small farm raising registered Icelandic sheep. An older breed, sometimes referred to as Viking sheep, they have a double coated fleece responsible for the beautiful lopapeysa sweaters from Iceland. Directions to the farm:From the intersection of Park St. (Route 22) and E Main St in Cambridge (traffic light), go east on E Main St (Ashgrove). Turn right on to Chestnut Hill Rd. The farm is 2.2 miles on the left (a little ways past the New Skete Monks). |
